Easter loot

This year I got some really nice things from the Easter Bunny!

But some of them needed a little improvement.

Not this little guy though. He was allowed to stay the way he was.

Isn’t he cute? I still need to find a nice place for him, maybe between some flowers?

.I also got this little bunny…

While I wasn’t crazy about the color, I thought he had a lot of potential (sounds like I’m talking about an old sofa, huh?).

Talking about having potential, so did this:

.

You can open it, and I think it’s perfect to put potpourri in.

But I also wasn’t too crazy about the grayish blue color. Or was it blueish gray?

Whatever the color was, it was nothing that a few coats of white spraypaint couldn’t fix:

Amazing what a difference such a simple thing as spraypainting can make! I totally love this now!

Same goes for the bunny.

.

He definitely looks a lot better now, don’t you think? I think he’s pretty enough to hang around all year instead of just for Easter now.

My favorite Easter present, however, doesn’t need to be changed the slightest.

It’s from GreenGate after all, and I think it’s perfect:

.

What I love most about this little milk pot is that he goes so perfectly with my sugar pot!

A match made in GreenGate heaven.

  1. hi jenny :)

love your gnome…i’ve always had a soft spot for them! and genius work on the bunny and egg…i’ve never thought of spray painting the little figurines i’ve received throughout the years for a more uniform display-able look. love it! :)

    Hi Bethany!
Thank you :-) I’ve never spray painted anything before, and you can tell… that’s why I’ll never show the bunny from his right side ;-)
But I love white ceramics and everything really looks good together now.

  3. truly, i thought your spray-paint-job looked stellar…i almost asked for your secret, but thought you might wonder how one couldn’t understand how to spray paint! but honestly, mine always looks so clumpy and runny…and that bunny looks so milky smooth! what’s your trick? :)

Well, I learned (the hard way) that it’s really best to do one thin coat after the other with enough drying time in between and enough space between the paint can and the object. The bunny has some seriously runny spots on his “bad” side because I just kept spraying from a too small distance…
What helped make it all more even was putting the bunny on a long stick (there’s a hole on his underside) so you don’t have to bend down and try to get into all the crevices.
I went a little overboard on his face, I think that’s why that part is not as shiny as the rest (I used high gloss spray paint though). Or maybe that part is just blurry in the picture :-)

  5. Awww…you got way better stuff than I did! I got candy that added 2 lbs to me!

  6. Jenny

Yeah, that usually happens to me, too. But this year I said before that I didn’t want any candy. Doesn’t really help when there’s cake though…
